It’s the first time the e-commerce giant’s Just Walk Out technology has been implemented in a 25,000-square-foot grocery store, the company announced in a blog post on Tuesday. The technique uses cameras and pressure–Sensitive shelves to keep track of the items that customers are shopping for, and the technology connects to the customers’ Amazon account or credit card.
Customers can also choose to shop at checkouts manned by Amazon employees, the company said in a blog post. Staff will be available for assistance throughout the store.
When shoppers use the Just Walk Out checkout method, they can simply enter the Amazon Fresh Store by scanning a QR code on the Amazon app, scanning their palm, or entering a credit or debit card. Then you will be automatically billed for the items when you leave

“The introduction of Just Walk Out technology to a full-size grocery store with the Amazon Fresh Store in Bellevue demonstrates the technology’s continued ability to adapt to new environments and choices,” said Dilip Kumar, vice president of Physical Retail and Technology at Amazon in a statement.

It is unclear where the nearest cash register grocery store location will be. Bloomberg reported last month that it had received planning documents to open an automated grocery store in Brookfield, Connecticut.
