The Seattle Central District Communion has just been named one of the 12 Best New Restaurants in the World.

SEATTLE – A Seattle restaurant was just named one of the 12 best in the world – meaning you’re very lucky to land a reservation with Communion in the Central District.

An idea that has been in the works for four years was launched last December.

“I don’t like the word fusion, but I think I can use it in that sense. We definitely bring a lot of cultural aspects to the kitchen, but we still are, you feel, that’s how I grew up.” said Damon Bomar.

Chef Kristi Brown and her son Damon Bomar wanted to create a space where people could feel at home and enjoy a bit of Seattle soul.

“It’s a place where we just wanted to see our dreams come true,” said Bomar.

The culinary experience has established itself worldwide. Conde Nast Traveler named Communion one of the Top 12 New Restaurants in the World.

“This is huge, this is huge, honestly, I think we’re still processing it,” said Bomar.

It is an acknowledgment that adds to the meaning of that moment.

“I think the CD offers a lot of synergies [Central District] and bring back black businesses, “Bomar said.

The restaurant is located on the ground floor of the Liberty Bank Building. The original building housed the first black-owned bank in the Pacific Northwest.

“It’s a nice thing to be especially in the historic Black neighborhood of the CD and to see the changes, to see the things that have gone down,” said Bomar.

Chef Brown’s signature black-eyed pea hummus and unique variations on soul food are attracting even more people to the Central District.

“We’re pretty full right now,” said Bomar.

Reservations are currently booked until the end of June. Bomar suggests following the restaurant on social media for reservation updates.

The restaurant also offers take-away meals.
