SEATTLE – The Seattle Mariners announced Wednesday that the club has agreed to a multi-year contract extension with Jerry Dipoto and Scott Servais.

As part of the Dipoto expansion, he was promoted to the team’s first President of Baseball Operations.

Dipoto and Servais are both in their sixth seasons with the Mariners.

“I’m very positive about the makeup and direction of our team in 2021 and beyond, so it’s exciting for me to work with this group in this city in the years to come,” said Servais. “And I want to acknowledge the key role coaches and other staff have played in our success here.

Dipoto will remain the team’s top baseball decision maker and will continue to report to Stanton and the Mariners partnership group, the organization said in a press release.

“Jerry is a creative, passionate leader with a clear vision for our franchise,” said Stanton. “After the 2018 season, Jerry came to us with a plan for how to fight for championships and win them. It was transparent about the level of difficulty, but also clear about the goals and milestones. In the two and a half years since then, he has led the baseball operations group through challenges on and off the field, adhering to the schedule he set.

Last month the Mariners announced their new President of Business Operations, Catie Griggs. Dipoto and Griggs are working in parallel and will both report to Chairman and Managing Partner John Stanton.
