Member of the City Council from 2008 to 2019 and President of the Council from 2016 to 2019. Worked as a lawyer before entering politics, representing a telecommunications company, non-profit organizations and employees who alleged discrimination and mistreatment. Grew up in the Central District of Seattle by city staff. Played football at the University of Washington.
