Studio Meng Strazzara, a Seattle-based architectural design and consultancy firm, has begun expanding its leadership role with a number of senior management promotions: Steve Lee has been promoted to Principal and Tony Fan, Lucas Branham and Lukas Shu to Associate Principal.

SMS also carried Aidan Bird, Erik Hatch, Austin Weller, Kristina Feliciano, Patrick Mahoney, Bryant Draper, Robert Landa, Matt Johnson, Pepe Izquierdo and Haluk Ceyhun.

Lee, a designer and project manager with over 30 years of experience, has spent his entire career with the company designing educational institutions for colleges and K-12 clients. Fan, architect and project manager with over 20 years of experience in the design field, works in the commercial studio with a background in early feasibility studies and development planning. Branham, a 15 year veteran with the company, is an architect in the commercial studio working on mixed-use and residential projects and new business development efforts. Shu is an architect with 30 years of experience in various sectors including education, public and community institutions. Shu often leads the firm’s work with contracting authorities, transportation districts, and communities.

Bird, an architect with 30 years of experience, is a technical expert and serves as the senior design resource for the educational and commercial design studios. Hatch is an architect with experience in various market sectors, recently served as a job captain on a pre-design study for Central Washington University, and is currently leading a commercial development project in Tacoma. Weller leads early design development and concept art for the company’s commercial studio. Feliciano, a designer and project manager, has worked in the commercial and educational studios. She recently led the design and completion of the master planning, renovation and expansion project at the Small School in Bellevue. Mahoney has over 25 years of experience with a background in building and zoning regulations and manages early design and feasibility study projects for the commercial studio. Draper spent his 21 year tenure at SMS, where he often led public projects with local and regional clients, as well as design and planning work in the education sector. Landa is an architect specializing in the design of educational environments. He is the lead architect and project manager of the expansion project at the Stahl Junior High School in Puyallup. Johnson works as an architect in the education studio and is the project architect for the new building at James Madison Middle School in West Seattle. Izquierdo is a designer and project manager in the commercial studio; he leads residential and mixed-use projects from the early draft to the completion of construction. Ceyhun is an architect with 20 years of experience designing educational projects; most recently he was project architect for the new Thomas Middle School in Lakewood and leads a district-wide building study and survey for the Puyallup school district. SMS is run by Charles Strazzara, the owner; Dennis Erwood, headmaster; and Carrie Thompson, operations manager.
