WASAT works with local restaurants to help people with food insecurity. ❤️ #newdaynw
SEATTLE – Seattle WASAT’s mission is to connect the community and help people in need. Named after the Arabic word for “middle way”, the organization serves others in three different components; Art & Culture, Education & Spirituality and Love & Service.
WASAT initially worked with local restaurants to help those who were unsure. During Ramadan, which runs from April 12th to May 12th of this year, they turned to serve free iftar, the food Muslims ate after sunset during this time of fast, prayer and reflection.
“Ramadan is the holy month in which the Koran was revealed to the Prophet Muhammad. And this is the month in which Muslims traditionally celebrate through one of the pillars of Islam, namely through fasting,” said Samuel Chesneau, one of the WASAT colleagues. Founders and board members.
“This month is really just about being your highest self and going through all your struggles and really analyzing yourself who you are. And how you want to be a better person and how you want to contribute to the world.”
Donate here to support WASAT in combating food insecurity in our community. Check WASAT’s social media to find out where they’ll be serving iftar next.
