Welcome to September folks! Between food, fairs, rodeos and art, there is a whole lot on the program this week. For once, you actually have to choose how many options you have. Here are 10 of the best things to do in and around Seattle this week.

Lil Woody’s Seafood Month

Lil Woody’s, but do it with seafood. This month-long event features local chefs trying their seafood on Lil Woody’s burgers. You can enjoy bites like a halibut burger, a rockfish burger, and even McDonald’s “Filet O Fish”. Today is the last day, so come down while you still can!

Seattle Deconstructed Art Fair

The Deconstructed Art Fair is the replacement for the larger Seattle Art Fair, which attracts local, national and international galleries. But what makes it especially cool is that it allows smaller and local galleries to reach larger audiences. In fact, over 50 galleries are participating this year and you can visit them all online and in person.

MARIA! A drag happy hour

Every week on Tuesday you can join a drag happy hour at Chop Suey. You can watch drag icon Jane Don’t and three of Seattle’s other premiere drag beauties do their thing. It’s sure to be the most fun happy hour you’ve had in a long time.

Wunderground pop-up

A new coffee company from Seattle mixes up a little with its coffee. Do you want to know why? That’s because their coffee blends are full of adaptogenic mushrooms specially selected to help you look your best. Best of all, they have a pop-up that you can try the coffee in!

Walla Walla fair & border days

The Walla Walla Fair & Frontier Days take place from September 1st to 5th and offer a huge entertainment program. You can experience a hypnotist, a battle of the bands, wood carvings, dock dogs, demolition derby, a rodeo and much more. As at other fairs across the state, you can sample all kinds of livestock and delicious fair food too.

PAX West

Seattle’s most popular and largest convention is back! After a hiatus during the pandemic, PAX is back with panels, tournaments, an exhibition hall and much more. Some tickets are still available, but we recommend buying them as soon as possible.

Ellensburg Rodeo

The Ellensburg Rodeo takes place every Labor Day weekend and is actually Washington’s oldest rodeo. At the Main Event, visitors can watch professional cowboys compete for the main prizes and also watch the PRCA Xtreme Bulls Presented by Wrangler. Seeing this rodeo is truly a memorable and age-old Washington tradition.

NEAR DARK: wet cyanotype series

This unique show features cyanotype series by the artists Meagan Viken, Heidi Khrone, Destini Cole, Mike Hawkins, Jack Dondanville and Ambrose. If you fall in love with a piece, maybe you can just buy it and take it home with you. It’s a great interface between painting and photography.

The Evergreen State Fair

Are you ready for your trade fair? You can do it in person this summer thanks to The Evergreen State Fair. You can enjoy cute animals, tasty fair food, and of course, fairground rides. It’s a Washington state tradition that you won’t want to miss out on. So get out there and have fun!

When: 2nd-6th September

Costs: Adults (13-61 years old) $ 14 on weekdays, seniors (62-89 years old, $ 90 free) $ 11 on weekdays, teenagers (6-12 years, 5 years and younger free) $ 11 on weekdays, active military with ID 11 USD on weekdays

One of Seattle’s best and sneakiest galleries has a great show that you can only visit on the weekends. Works by Molly Magai, Tessa O’Brien, Emil Robinson, Gail Spaien, Jay Stern are currently on view. “This exhibition brings together a group of paintings that explore spaces and the features by which we know them.”
