Boy, boy, this weekend is going to be a fun one! Several large art exhibitions are packing up, two film festivals are running and you still have plenty of time to be scared of an enchanted attraction. Ready to have some fun? Here are 10 of the best things to do in Seattle this weekend.

Seattle Queer Film Festival

The Seattle Queer Film Festival kicks off this weekend with 30 feature films, 11 short films and 11 workshops. Films come from near and far, American and international films are shown. You can find all sorts of movie themes like trans, QTBIPOC, lesbian and more.

Visit a significant piece of land art

Robert Morris’ Johnson Pit # 30 has just been listed on the National Register of Historic Places, which is a big deal. It’s a first for a contemporary Land Art work, so you might as well visit it this weekend and show it some love. Who knows, it might be your new favorite piece of art.

Choose a pumpkin

Or three, whatever your boat floats. October is officially here and that means it’s time to get into the creepy seasonal mood by picking some pumpkins yourself. Washington has tons of great U-Pick farms with all sorts of pumpkins to choose from.

Seattle Latino Film Festival

The 13th annual Seattle Latino Film Festival is back for an in-person festival! You can watch movies from almost 20 countries and you can also opt for online screenings if you are more familiar with it. Consider diversifying your movie and seeing something new this weekend!

Northwest Record Show

The National Nordic Museum might not be on your top list of local museums to visit, but it should be. Now you can watch a visual story of how “Finnish artists depicted the landscape of their homeland from the 1850s to the present day”. You can see 50 paintings and prints on loan from the Ateneum Art Museum and we highly recommend you check them out.

Monet at Étretat

The Seattle Art Museum is coming back with a bang! We’ve seen some great shows this year and if you’re a fan of impressionism this is the place to go. You can see Monet from SAM and some work by Monet’s contemporaries.

Come in from Faye Driscoll

If you want to see art to live, check out Faye Driscoll’s Come on In. It is an “experiential exhibition” where you listen to Driscoll’s voice instructions on a bed made available. You absolutely have to check it out for yourself.
