Uh, of course Elvira is queer: In her new memoir, Yours Cruelly, Elvira, Cassandra Peterson came out of the closet and revealed her 19-year relationship with a woman named Teresa “T” Wierson. YahoOOOooooO! Wierson is Elivra’s assistant, but they kept their relationship under wraps because “the couple felt they had to protect the Elvira brand,” reports The Advocate. Are you kidding? We love a gay gay icon! Greetings to you!

And I-oop: The National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) said Kroger’s own QFC and Fred Meyer here in the state “broke federal labor law last fall by banning employees from wearing Black Live’s Matter buttons at work,” reports the Seattle Times. The NLRB “established at least one charge” filed by the United Food and Commercial Workers International Union Local 21, which handed the buttons to workers last year. The labor council will now “try to negotiate an agreement between the union and Kroger that could include a change in company policy or other remedial measures.”

Quick vaccination update: As of yesterday, 75.8% of Washingtoners over 12 years of age have had at least one vaccination and 68.9% of people within the same group are fully vaccinated, reports KING 5.

Curious what’s in that Macklemore golf and vintage shop in Pike / Pine? Capitol Hill Seattle Blawg has you covered.

Warning of invasive bat fungus: White nose syndrome is on the rise among our nocturnal buddies. Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife and US Forest Service authorities have “discovered the fungus or disease in Yakima, Chelan and Mason counties,” AP reports. It does not infect humans or other farm animals, but it does “attack the skin of hibernating bats and damage their wings”.

Mayor Durkan has extended the eviction and cordoning off moratoria until next year: Originally scheduled for September, this is the sixth time Durkan has issued such an extension. Her office will also “change additional COVID-related relief efforts related to helping utility companies,” the press release announcing the news said. Let’s cancel everything now!

Seattle has already distributed $ 15 million in federal #AmericanRescuePlan aid through partners like @UnitedWayKC. And we’ve already approved an additional $ 28 million to be distributed to renters and landlords in the coming weeks.

If for any reason you’re reading this issue of Los Angeles Slog PM: You are legally required to go to Mondo Trasho’s 35mm screening of Gregg Arakis Nowhere. It is my favorite movie!

Shocker: After the election, remember when Trump’s attorneys railed against Dominion Voting Systems, claiming the company had conspired with George Soros and Venezuela (lol) to wrest the presidency from Trumpy Wumpy’s tiny paws? Well, newly released New York Times court documents show that Trump’s campaign knew all along that the lawyers’ claims were “completely unfounded”. More on that SHOCKING story here.

State Senator Jeannie Darneille from the 27th LD is retiring: But certainly not for greener pastures. Instead, Darneille has been appointed assistant secretary to assist in running the women’s prisons division of the correctional division, KOMO reports. That means the seat representing North Tacoma is up for grabs! Hold your bum tight!

Art is just another way for the rich to move money: Here’s a headline for you: “Picasso’s daughter is exchanging nine works of art with France to pay her tax bill” via ARTNews.

Is it a British custom not to ask how many children someone has – especially someone in power? Apparently so! Speaking to Today during his visit to the United States today, UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson “admitted for the first time that he has six children,” reports The Guardian. According to the newspaper, Boris “used to avoid asking questions about his notoriously complex family life.” British courtesy strikes again!

Biden and Johnson were hanging out at the White House. where the two leaders are believed to be discussing “climate change and the recent Australian submarine deal” as well as trade, reports the BBC. Although Johnson answered two questions from the British press corps, Biden’s adviser shouted down the American press as it tried to press the president into his administration’s horrific treatment of Haitian asylum seekers at the border. Biden was widely condemned for his continuation of Trump-era politics, Title 42:

@EdOkeefe of CBS News reports that during Pres. Biden’s bilateral meeting with British Prime Minister Boris Johnson, US press questions about the southern border were shouted down by White House staff. The President’s answer was indecipherable. pic.twitter.com/MeXVTcFEBX

Sad: An autopsy confirms the human remains found in the Bridger-Teton National Forest actually belonged to Gabby Petito, CNN reports. The 22-year-old disappeared while on a road trip with her fiancé Brian Laundrie, who is suspected and is currently at large. The coroner has “prelimited the form of death as murder,” and the FBI is calling on anyone who is aware of Laundrie’s role in Petito’s disappearance and / or her current whereabouts to come forward.

Also sad: It is believed that the southern orca L47 alias “Marina” died after researchers had not discovered her “with her offspring or a grandchild during encounters” in the summer, reports Seattle PI. The PI describes the 47-year-old Marina as ” productive”. Having produced “seven viable calves, the most of any resident whale”. She is the second resident of the south to die this summer.

That is also sad: Willie Garson – best known for his roles as Stanford in Sex and the City and Mozzie in White Collar – is dead, reports Variety. No official cause was published, but he died at the age of 57.

For your listening pleasure: It is objectively the best day of the year. September 21st is so good Earth Wind and Fire wrote a song about it.
