Three new restaurant and bar projects The lodge in St. Edward State Park is slated to open this weekend in Kenmore under former James Beard Best Chef: Northwest winner Jason Wilson. In the new The Lodge with 84 rooms, which is located in an old seminar building, his bistro is housed from the courtyard to the table Cedar + elm, with (if the state increases seating capacity) 125 seats indoors and 40 seats on the terrace near the hiking trails. The property will include a cooking garden and an apiary. So expect edible flowers and honey to be added to the dinner menu later this summer. You might even be able to pick your own vegetables in the garden for your salad.

Attached to this restaurant Father Mulligan’s Heritage Bar, which seats 27 and is more focused on casual foods, including pizza. The hotel will also accommodate Hairdresser bar with cocktails and appetizers on the ground floor. This is a familiar area for Wilson, who was the chef behind the now-closed Miller’s Guild, which is next to the Hotel Max in downtown Seattle. He is also behind the culinary program at The Lakehouse and the Cocktail den Civility & Unrest in downtown Bellevue.

Speaking of the Eastside, this area was in the middle of a pre-pandemic Chinese restaurant boom. There have been concerns that COVID-19, along with the anti-Asian sentiment resulting from this pandemic, could discourage Chinese investors. The opening of Famous cuisine, a promising Cantonese restaurant in a mall in Issaquah, is a good sign that it may not. Located at the back of Pickering Square, this grill eatery is a big hit for its crispy roast pork and honey glazed char siu.

Also in Issaquah, the Laz’s tacos Truck parks at 25 NW Gilman Blvd.

In Kirkland Mall News the most eagerly awaited Silverlake ramen, which was a hit in Southern California, eventually opened at the Village at Totem Lake. Expect long lines for this one. The mall, which is said to be a major dining hub, will have four more restaurant openings by the summer, including Seattle’s Eastside debut Hello and hello Roast chicken in July.

Kirkland Urban has landed Vinason Pho & Grill, which attracted a large crowd for lunch at its restaurant near the Amazon campus prior to the pandemic. Also open at Kirkland Urban is Plant-based superfoods, a plant-based cafe that serves acai bowls and burgers. In May the vegetarian restaurant offers a 20% discount on food and drinks. The burger bar is in Juanita Village Let moo, from the investors behind Tipsy Cow.

Bellevue openings: the extremely popular soup dumpling chain Dough zone opened on Main Street and taken over the Swiftwater Cellars space. Their Xiao Long Bao still rules, despite the chain having found a new legion of fans for their Shanghai-style Q-Bao buns, which have a cotton top that contrasts with a crispy fried bottom. One of the most successful hubs during the pandemic for Chinese restaurants has been frozen dumplings, and no one sells more frozen take-away dumplings on the weekend than Dough Zone.

Donburi Station BowlThe company has been expanded to northeast Bellevue by the investors behind Fremont Bowl and Donburi Bowl in Georgetown, focusing on meat and seafood rice bowls. And Chakra brings Kadala Curry, Mutton Biryani and Crab Masala to the Crossroads Shopping Center.

In Sammamish, Big Fish Sushi Restaurant does ramen and teriyaki chicken in addition to its cuisine of the same name.

In downtown Bothell, you can order croissants, kouign-amann, and macarons thanks to the French bakery’s debut Aeipathy patisserie by pastry chef Danyel Vertin who was a member of the pastry team at the Wayfare Tavern and the Sir Francis Drake Hotel in San Francisco. The Eastside chain Mercurys Coffee Co.., which just opened in Redmond, has expanded to include Bothell.

In Edmonds, restaurateur Shubert Ho, who runs five restaurants on the city limits, has notched two more: Potlatch Bistro and Shore Pine Coffee & Gelato, both housed in the new Edmonds Waterfront Center. But the best property is what is 10 feet from the bistro entrance: a restored beach. Ho will have a beach hut-inspired to-go menu of fish and chips, battered burgers, and fish tacos, all served in compostable boxes that sunbathers can bring to the beach. Two miles southeast of these two waterfront projects Delicious teriyaki & fried chicken (Yes, more Korean fried chicken).

A handful of newcomers to Renton: Taco Dudes & CaribbeanIn addition to uwajimaya, there are debuts with street tacos and pork sandwiches. Rice-N-Curry sells rice bowls near the Renton Transit Center. The happy boyThe company specializing in Mexican fish dishes is making its debut near Renton Municipal Airport. And Chick-fil-a expanding on Rainier Avenue South and Renton Center Way.

In Auburn, Four season pizza Pies all over the world, from a tandoori paneer inspired version to a Greek pizza with feta cheese.

In Kent, Ying Fung Cafe focuses on Hong Kong style food but also caters to the young crowd with Korean fried chicken and the Asian sweet spot. ZZ dessert, comes to the Great Wall Shopping Mall.
