Tools, tips and tricks from our small business conference

The theme for this year’s Elevate NW Conference was Small Business, Big Picture, where we wanted to focus on getting you out of the day-to-day running of your business and giving you tips on building a community of people who can help, support you and help you solve some of your small business challenges. Based on the feedback from our members, we have developed four events in this year’s series that are tailored to support and assist you in your business activities. If you weren’t able to attend, please see a summary below and watch the recorded webinar if applicable. Our first event in the series, How to build your support team, focuses on having a team of mentors, coaches, and peers who can help your small business succeed, and how you can attract them to your team. It included a discussion with Jeneferness Tucker of the Washington Small Business Development Center Network, Lisa Hufford of Simplicity Consulting, and was moderated by Jose Vazquez of Ventures. At our second event it was Maximizing Your Virtual Network, Hal Brookins shared networking tips on LinkedIn to help your small business build relationships and connections. Hal’s tips included:

• You get what you’ve put into it: Connect people you know who can help each other
• Handle LinkedIn groups to connect like-minded people and industry connections
• Use the LinkedIn Sales Navigator for sales leads
• Take advantage of LinkedIn’s free courses at LinkedIn Learning

To watch the webinar, click here, our third one was Mastermind group, this was a breakout session where other small business owners in the webinar used the mastermind technique shown here to assist each other in solving business problems that other members brought to the table. The grand finale of this year’s Elevate NW Conference was our something Keynote conversation with Doug Baldwin Jr. and Rachel Smith, President and CEO of the Seattle Chamber.
