This week Alaska Airlines officially joined the oneworld alliance, expanding global travel options for Alaska members who now earn miles when they fly on a oneworld airline.
Delta and WestJet have announced their own mutual benefits for elite members. Delta Airlines has also expanded eCredit vouchers and improved qualification options for medallions for the coming travel year. Read on to find out more.
Alaska Airlines joins the oneworld alliance
Alaska Airlines has officially joined the oneworld alliance and is offering travel options to 1,000 destinations in 170 regions through a total of 14 oneworld airline partners. Partner airlines include American Airlines, British Airways, Japan Airlines and Qantas
Alaska passengers now earn miles when flying on a oneworld airline. Alaska’s Elite Mileage Plan members will automatically receive the appropriate Oneworld tier status.

A Delta Airline aircraft will pass Uber signs at the lift-off pick-up and drop-off areas when it lands at Los Angeles International Airport in Los Angeles, California on August 20.

Delta increases flexibility and accelerates elite status
Delta Airlines has just announced the extension of eCredits. Customers who have eCredit vouchers from last year’s cancellations can now redeem them on future flights until December 31, 2022.
Delta has also introduced Medallion Status Accelerators so that all flights between April 1 and December 31, 2021 earn at least 50% more Medallion Qualification Miles and Segments, making it easier for guests to achieve Elite Status 2022.

WestJet offers mutual benefits to Delta elites
WestJet and Delta have announced new mutual benefits for elite flyers traveling on both airlines. While the Canadian border is currently closed to leisure travelers, these benefits will combine frequent flyers with attractive air services and benefits once the borders are open.
Delta SkyMiles members can earn or redeem miles when flying with WestJet. Medallion members also enjoy priority service, lounge access, preferred seating and baggage allowance.
