Shows: up, up and down – the circus is back in town

Look. Up in the sky. It’s a bird. It’s an airplane. It’s a … piano? Up Up Up Inc., based in Bellingham, is a touring crane truck circus company that has embarked on a month-long north-west tour of power, comedy and music with mostly speechless performances. Each donation-based show features aerial stunts, including the “World’s Greatest Wedgie,” a flying baby wing, human ceiling fan, and a hairhanging act. It’s a strange mix, but not to be missed.

The group of seven cast members travel on a 10 foot crane truck with a hand crank and bicycles for them to set up and perform in urban and remote environments. On Friday, Up Up Up will perform at 7 p.m. in Everett on 1814 Hewitt Avenue. On Saturday they will perform at the Bitters Co. Barn in La Conner and on Sunday they will perform at noon at West Lake Park to welcome the city back week event.

Theater: Free outdoor “Comedy of Errors” performances

Once again, the Seattle Shakespeare Company is touring Puget Sound for free outdoor productions of “The Comedy of Errors”. The cast of five will play all of the roles in this popular Shakespearean comedy.

“Shakespeare’s bubbly, vertiginous comedy follows the mishaps and chaos caused by Antipholus and Dromio in search of their lost family. When they arrive in a new city, the two are treated like old friends … but something seems to be wrong, ”says the theater’s website. “Soon the couple find themselves in a swamp of jealous wives, stolen property and an enigmatic nun who holds the key to the solution of the riddle in her hand. As the sun goes down, the weird confusion dissipates just in time to end with a crazy family get-together. “

Performances this weekend include productions at Riverton Heights Park in SeaTac on Friday at 7 p.m., Klahanie Park in Issaquah on Saturday at 7 p.m., and the Mural Amphitheater in the Seattle Center on Sunday at 6 p.m.
