Every year, Seattle’s best restaurants perform for one of the city’s most popular nonprofits, and on October 14th, Community Roots Housing’s annual fundraiser, Omnivorous, returns with an outdoor event at Capitol Hill Station Plaza.

Restaurants with locations in the organization’s buildings like Communion and Rachel’s Ginger Beer join popular neighborhoods like L’Oursin, Gold Coast Ghal Kitchen, and Terra Plata. In a year with few of the usual tasting events happening, Omnivorous offers a rare opportunity to sample some of the best food in the area for a good cause.

The 45-year-old organization, which changed its name from Capitol Hill Housing in 2020, aims to build vibrant and engaged communities through affordable housing. In addition to living space, buildings like 12th Avenue Arts and the Liberty Bank Building offer retail space for local restaurants, making the food-focused omnivores a fitting fundraiser.

Each restaurant will have its own stand to taste, including Café Avole, Frankie & Jo’s, Hello Robin, Marjorie, Matt’s in the Market, NuFlours, OOLA, Optimism Brewing, Plenty of Clouds, Soul & Spice Catering Company and Revolver, with as bis a dozen other providers are to be added.

Food and drink tastings with a live event hosted by DJ Riz Rollins will be offered from 5:30 PM to 9:00 PM for $ 85 entry fee. All participants must be at least 21 years of age and fully vaccinated, but the move from Washington Hall to the open-air location allows more people to participate safely.
