Digital cake boutique Girl M launches in Seattle with 20-layer crepe desserts

If you’re looking for an eye-catching baked good to be the center of attention at an upcoming birthday, festival, or even post-vaccination, there’s a new creative cake vendor in Seattle that you want to meet.

Lady M Confections opened her new “virtual boutique” in Emerald City this week, where a range of crepe mille cakes are sold and delivered straight to your door. While only three varieties are currently available, the company plans to add more in the future.

Each of the mille crepe cakes are made from 20 layers of alternating French crepes and soft cream, creating a light and airy dessert that is aesthetically pleasing to cut. The company also sources its green tea crepe cake and chocolate from France from high-quality manufacturers, including matcha from Japan.

The 6-inch cakes are $ 60.50 each. The company delivers the cakes through the third-party delivery platform Chowbus. Next day delivery is available if you need something for Mother’s Day that weekend.

Lady M is currently available in 40 other cities around the world including Los Angeles, Boston, New York City and international hubs such as Shanghai and Hong Kong. According to Eater, the 2017 boutique featured a Seattle pop-up.

Other similar virtual restaurant retailers also launched in the Emerald City last year as a hub due to the COVID-19 pandemic and food restrictions. Just in time for Christmas last year, Mariah Carey launched a cookie delivery service that is still baking bites, while celebrity chef Guy Fieri also launched a delivery-only ghost kitchen in February.

With more and more people using delivery services, and most importantly, convenience, these exclusively digital food companies will continue after the pandemic.

Even so, there are still plenty of local pastry shops and Asian-inspired pastry shops in the Emerald City that hand out creative sweets for all kinds of celebrations.
