eater is looking for a seasoned reporter and editor to take care of Eater Seattle, one of its lead publications. The person in this role will have a keen sense of the culture of Seattle and its surroundings, the communities that weave its unique structure, and the way social issues intersect with the restaurant, food and bar industries. You will be eager to be there and tell the stories of the people that make Seattle’s dining scene interesting and memorable. This editor will look after new businesses as well as those that have proven to be longevity and resilient over decades.
Eater Seattle’s editor will lead the daily coverage of the site and its overall sensitivity, including its mix of news, service-oriented maps and guides, and brief features. The editor is responsible for audience growth and engagement, as well as impact and relevance in the community; Stories shouldn’t all focus on one area or topic – the editor should have the bandwidth to cover the bar and hospitality industry, changes to COVID guidelines, and work and social justice narratives. The role also includes assigning, editing, and packaging freelance pieces; Adoption of high-touch service cards such as the Eater 38; and planning / strategy for social media and the Eater Seattle newsletter.
