What happens from October 8th to 14th?

After Seattle Pride went virtual for the second year in a row, organizers began making plans for an in-person celebration to finally bring the community together. Seattle Pride All together nowTaking place in Volunteer Park this Saturday, October 9th, will be smaller than the traditional Seattle Pride summer festival, but it will be in dire need of the spirit and unity of the community.

All Together Now offers the LGBTQIA + community the opportunity to meet in person before the end of the year. It also serves as an opportunity to “build community for the people,” said Krystal Marx, executive director of Seattle Pride.

“The LGBTQIA + community tends to see themselves as their family, so [All Together Now] is to provide this opportunity not only to have fun but also to restore relationships, to have that moment of good psychological clarity where one is not so isolated, and to highlight the resilience of our community and the amazing talent we have “Said Marx, adding that all of the cast from All Together Now are members of the LGBTQIA + community.

All Together Now begins with music by DJ Dark_Wiley, followed by “Drag Queen Bingo” under the direction of Aleksa Manila, where participants have the opportunity to win prizes such as Alaska Airlines tickets.

“And then we go to the performances. We have Cassandra Lewis, CarLarans, BeautyBoiz and Chong the nomad, and we’re really excited to have great live music and gigs out in public in October where we don’t normally get that, ”said Marx.

The event also features food trucks such as Dumpling Tzar, Full Tilt Ice Cream, Mobile Mayan and Monster Dogs, an alcohol garden for those 21 and over (full COVID-19 vaccination required), a 360-degree photo booth, information booths and games such as oversized Jenga, Cornhole and more. An on-site UW Medicine COVID-19 vaccination clinic will also be available to provide vaccinations for those who have not yet received them.

All Together Now also offers the opportunity to register for the vote, “which is very important at our Vote with Pride booth, as we know that this is the start of our Vote With Pride event where we are trying to promote the LGBTQIA + – Community to encourage more engagement to autumn elections, “said Marx.

“We’re working a lot at Seattle Pride to make this a fully accessible event, so we’ll have ASL interpreters on stage. We also have a one-page accessibility document on our website so people know that there are bathrooms in addition to honey buckets, where those bathrooms are, what is there for ADA parking, and what the grounds are like to make people more comfortable feel able to participate, ”she said.

But All Together Now is not just about gathering again. National Coming Out Day is October 11th and the event will feature the My Coming Out Story booth to invite attendees to think about their own stories.

“We wanted to celebrate the act of coming out and create space for it. It can be a very scary occasion; it can be a sad occasion; it’s always important; it can be fun; it can be warm; it can be liberating – we wanted to make room for it and acknowledge it and celebrate it and that is definitely a big part of the choice of the weekend we did, ”said Marx.

The My Coming Out Story booth is being developed in collaboration with C89.5 FM, “one of our fantastic radio partners and a youth radio program they have known for at Nathan Hale High School in Seattle. We work with them to capture what coming out means for people, ”she said.

Participants will receive a few questions and prompts and then access a website on their own phone to upload their coming-out story online (at videobooth.app/mycomingoutstory).

“We also have a film company that puts the videos together into a powerful piece that we can share with people, post on our YouTube page, post on our website, pass on to our partners, and easily post it there for the sake of diversity and To show the diversity and depth of people’s coming-out stories… To show that we are not all the same and that there are many different shades of being in the LGBTQIA + community, ”said Marx.

All Together Now requires event attendees to wear masks and be fully vaccinated or have a negative COVID-19 PCR test within 48 hours of the event.

All Together Now takes place on Saturday, October 9th, 3pm to 7pm at Volunteer Park, 1247 15th Ave. E., Seattle instead. Further information can be found at: seattlepride.org/all-together-now
