NEW YORK – (AP) – An associate producer filed a lawsuit against Fox News Network Monday, saying he was discriminated against because of his sex and exposed to the unwanted attention of an on-air personality.
John Fawcett, who works on the show “Kudlow” hosted by Larry Kudlow on Fox Business Channel, claims in his lawsuit filed with the Manhattan Supreme Court that “sexual harassment, gender discrimination and racial discrimination are still tolerated at Fox” .
He said executives “will bend backwards to protect such behavior as long as it is committed by senior executives or prominent on-air personalities.”
In a statement, Fox News Media said it had investigated and dealt with Fawcett’s allegation against the personality and that his additional allegations were “baseless and nothing more than a desperate payday attempt.”
Fawcett, 27, who was hired in March 2019, said he was in an elevator with Fox personality Andrew Napolitano later that year when Napolitano patted his arm and made suggestive comments. He said he told his then boss Lou Dobbs, who told a company executive who was dismissive.
Fox said the network had investigated and “took appropriate action immediately”.
Fawcett also said that while working on Kudlow’s show, which he started after Dobbs’ show was canceled, he heard that Kudlow used insults and made sexually inappropriate remarks without reproach.
He also said the female executive producer discriminated against male employees in order to replace them with female employees and that she tried to force Fawcett to resign or fire.
Fox denied the allegations, saying it would “vigorously defend the matter in court”.
