The Downtown Seattle Association (DSA) has launched its new Love, SeaTown campaign inviting Seattle residents to return to downtown after the pandemic.

As Seattle was one of the first major cities to face the economic hardships of the pandemic, the DSA launched “Love, SeaTown” to encourage the city to recover after nearly a year and a half of COVID-19.

The campaign highlights special downtown experiences that take place during this summer season. Some of their highlighted partner events are city walks, scavenger hunts, and live concerts.

Local hip hop artist Gifted Gab also helped create and produce “Love, SeaTown”.

“Our goal is to bring residents back to the great urban core and experiences only available in the downtown area,” said Chris Copacino, senior account and new business director at Copacino Fujikado, a downtown advertising agency.

“Seattleites feel a deep connection with their city and this campaign aims to reinvigorate that relationship.”

Downtown Seattle was hit hard by the pandemic but also by protests following the death of George Floyd.

Crime has also hit a number of downtown businesses, including the Simply Seattle clothing store in Seattle. The Pioneer Square location was broken into about a dozen times in the past year, the store owner told Q13 News.

According to DSA President and CEO Jon Scholes, Love, SeaTown invites not only local residents but also people from all over the area to experience the city center and all it has to offer.

“There’s a lot to discover, including 288 new stores that opened since January 2020.”

The new campaign is part of a broader strategy developed by the DSA to help Seattle recover. The Metropolitan Improvement District is supporting this strategy with a $ 3.2 million investment.

The Downtown Seattle Association, which administers the Metropolitan Improvement District, is a not-for-profit organization founded in 1958 to promote economic development, transportation, and urban life in Seattle.
