The mother of a 19-year-old who was fatally shot in the so-called CHOP zone in Seattle last summer filed an unlawful death lawsuit against the city. She claimed medics failed to provide immediate assistance and encouraged the unsafe conditions.
Q13 Fox reported that this lawsuit was filed on behalf of Lorenzo Anderson’s mother, Donnitta Sinclair. The lawsuit alleged that the city’s decision to abandon the East Precinct near the Capitol Hill Organized Protest and provide the protesters with portable toilets made violence possible.

According to records, several people called 911 to report the June 20 shooting. Fifteen minutes later, several police officers entered the protest zone and “were confronted by an aggressive and fleeting crowd,” according to documents filed against 18-year-old Marcel Long, charged with first degree murder.
Anderson was taken to Harborview Medical Center by medical volunteers, where he died, according to the Seattle Fire Department. City medics had staged nearby, but authorities said the scene was too dangerous for them to enter without police securing the area.
Mark Lindquist of Herrmann Law Group, which Sinclair represents, told King 5 the suit could be reduced to two main points.
