The decision is made because the delta variant of the coronavirus is making its way into Washington and masks are again recommended for everyone indoors.

SEATTLE – More bars in Seattle’s Capitol Hill neighborhood will ask customers for proof of vaccination as COVID-19 cases continue to rise.

Queer / Bar, the Woods and the Cuff Complex announced on their website that starting Friday July 30th, customers will be required to show proof of their COVID-19 vaccination before they can enter the store.

“The safety of our guests, employees and performers is of the utmost importance to us. In view of the current COVID numbers as well as the health and safety guidelines and recommendations, it was the right decision to update our guidelines, ”the online statement said.

The policy is temporary and is subject to change based on local, state, and federal guidelines. Evidence of vaccination could include showing the actual card, a photo of it on a mobile phone, or a screenshot of the vaccination status via an online portal such as MyIR, according to the statement.

The trio of bar clubs are among the newest among Capitol Hill nightclubs to announce this, but not the first.

CC Attle made the decision to enforce vaccine requirements early this summer when the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention removed mask requirements for fully vaccinated individuals indoors.

“It is important to everyone’s health that it is done,” said Chris Daw, general manager and co-owner of CC Attle’s.

Daw said there have been some negative setbacks on social media, but for the most part, he said his customers appreciated the safety measure.

“If you run your business like you care about your community, your community will care about you and they will let you know it’s okay,” Daw said.

The Doctor’s Office, a cocktail bar in Capitol Hill, also announced on Instagram that all customers must provide proof of vaccination or a negative COVID-19 test within 48 hours of entering.
