Luxury retail giant Neiman Marcus Group announced this week that it has acquired Stylyze, a Seattle-based startup that sells merchandising-as-a-service software to online home and fashion retailers.

Stylyze provides retailers with product mapping data, digital outfit and room creation tools, content creation tools and more to enhance their ecommerce shopping experience. The startup was founded by Kristen Miller and Lisa Perrone Cirelli. Miller previously founded four companies in the home decoration industry. Perrone Cirelli is an expert in interior design and previously worked at Schönfeld Interiors and the Schick Design Group.

“This enables us to deepen our relationship with our customers through the use of technology,” Neiman’s CEO Geoffroy van Raemdonck said in a statement.

The terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Miller told GeekWire that she and Perrone Cirelli, along with 12 other employees, will join Neiman as part of the acquisition.

“We look forward to expanding our platform and integrating it deeper into Neiman’s business,” she said. “At this point the thought is that this platform is just for them.”

Founded in 2015, Stylyze had raised $ 2.8 million from investors, including many top retail executives like former Nordstrom CFO Mike Koppel. It had previously entered into a partnership with Neiman from 2018.

The acquisition of Stylyze is part of Neiman’s plan to invest in technical and digital skills. The company suffered a blow due to the pandemic as COVID restrictions hit department store sales. Neiman filed for bankruptcy a year ago, added new owners, and then refinanced $ 1.1 billion in debt.
