Incumbent Teresa Mosqueda is Kenneth Wilson’s lead challenger for the Seattle City Council overall position for District 8.

However, Moscheeda leads Tuesday at just 5.3% in early returns. Mosqueda received 52.4% of the vote while Wilson received 47.1% of the vote.

Mosqueda has served in position 8, a city-wide seat, for a term of office since 2018. Wilson is a small business owner who says the current council doesn’t understand day-to-day city operations.

“I am optimistic about the results tonight! We knew this would be a close choice given the frustration many people are feeling right now after the pandemic, in an economy that doesn’t work for all people, and a homeless crisis that affects too many, “Mosqueda said.” I feel good where we are doing well with the early support we have received for action on our progressive priorities and the kind of coalition-based approach that I am bringing to the Council. We will definitely watch how the later ballot papers are tallied. “
