More than 200 Seattle police officers reported Monday that due to the city’s COVID-19 vaccine obligations, they could lose their jobs for not receiving the vaccination or for refusing to provide personal medical information.

The Jason Lantz show on the city’s KTTH said that number represents about 20% of the department’s available staff. Mayor Jenny A. Darkan’s department and office did not immediately respond to emails from Fox News outside of business hours.

There are no national statistics showing vaccination rates for the entire population of first responders in the United States, but individual police and fire departments across the country are well below the national rate of 74% for adults who have been vaccinated at least once. Increase.

According to the KTTH report, Darkan’s mission requires city workers to be teased or fired by October 18. The report says the loss of 200 additional officials after promoting reimbursements last year could have a devastating impact on the city.

The city is in talks with the Seattle Police Officer Guild, the report said. In August, union chairman Mike Solan said on a podcast that the mission could result in a sacking.
