Seattle Sausage: Home of The Seattle Dog

When you think of Seattle’s SoDo neighborhood, you probably think first of the Mariners, Sounders, and Seahawks. After all, fans flock to Lumen Field and T-Mobile Park year-round for some serious fun.

But when it comes to food, I personally think that outside of the stadiums you can find the really delicious treasures of our city.

You could say Randy Stevenson is the top dog (pun intended) for off-stadium dining. He’s the owner of Seattle Sausage: Home of The Seattle Dog, where – that’s right – you can get the only original Seattle Dog.

“We take onions, cut them and fry them in slices,” explains Stevenson. “We grill the hot dogs to temperature. We roast the rolls.”

Sounds like a regular hot dog right? Well, there’s a reason these are unique – and the secret ingredient is cream cheese. Stevenson said he started serving cream cheese to his dogs about 30 years ago after slapping something on a turkey sandwich and being really impressed.

“I think it’s brilliant,” he said.

No matter which team is playing, Stevenson will almost always be out doing his thing.

“People go to the stadium just to be a part of the experience in a positive way,” he said. “It brings me more joy than anything you can ever imagine.”
