EDITOR’S NOTE: Editor / Editor Scott Schaefer serves on the Board of Directors of the Seattle Southside Chamber of Commerce.

The Seattle Southside Chamber of Commerce announced this week that it has posted its 2021 Candidate Questionnaires on its website, as well as the return of its night for public officials and candidates on September 22, 2021 at the DoubleTree in Southcenter.

All candidates for the Port of Seattle and city council for the communities served by the Chamber – Burien, Des Moines, Normandy Park, SeaTac, and Tukwila – were invited to fill out a candidate questionnaire in May.

Thirty-five candidates applying for these positions chose to participate and returned their questionnaires according to the guidelines established and communicated.

These questionnaires are now as they were submitted on the Chamber’s website here.

“Thanks to the candidates who decided to take part.”

During the questionnaire process, the candidates were also invited to the Chamber’s Candidates Night on September 22nd; most of them have already confirmed their commitment.

This event and the preparation of the Chamber’s questionnaire are organized by its volunteer Government Affairs Committee (GAC). The Seattle Southside GAC focuses on the issues that matter most in our region and the communities we serve. The Seattle Southside Chamber is also part of the South Sound Chamber of Commerce Legislative Coalition (SSCCLC), whose joint lobbying works to improve the business climate in our region. The work of the Committee on Government Affairs enables the Chamber to serve as the voice of business at all levels of government to advance the organization’s mission of building business success, advancing our region, and promoting and maintaining a strong economic environment in the South West of King County.

“We look forward to this opportunity to bring our officers, candidates, and regional business leaders together to interact, strengthen connections, and forge new relationships,” said Andrea Reay, President / CEO of the Seattle Southside Chamber. “In every election and in every place where political decisions are made, the voice of business has to be part of the conversation if we are to truly promote equitable economic growth and improve our culture of collaboration. We hope that you will take the time to look through the questionnaires submitted by the candidates and meet them personally at our event in September. “
