Students have returned to campus as they prepare for fall classes to start. SEATTLE – Local business owners in Seattle’s University District are optimistic again after a difficult 18 months amid the coronavirus pandemic.

She said business was already going.

Natalie Modlin is Assistant Manager and Barista at the Seven Coffee Roasters Market and Cafe in Ravenna.

“It was like crazy on the weekends,” she said. “It’s not that bad during the week, but the weekends just get crazy here for the games, so everyone comes in and has a pastry or a coffee or a few chips.”

While businesses in the U District work on recovery, the neighborhood is also in a phase of rapid change.

Many business owners are excited about the new Link light rail station and hope that the traffic from it will help businesses even more.

For the moment it is enough to see the students back on campus.

“I think it will definitely pick up again as soon as school starts,” said Modlin.
