Seattle’s Northgate Link Transit Extension is Open, Making it Even Easier to Explore Restaurants on the North End

Seattle’s Northgate Link Extension launched last Saturday, opening new Link Light Rail stations in the University District, Roosevelt and Northgate. The expansion provides better connectivity between North Seattle, downtown, and the South End, and promises to be a 13-minute drive from downtown to Northgate.

The light rail system makes dining in the North End even easier. If you’re near the Northgate Transit Center and maybe visiting the Kraken Community Iceplex, check out the Watershed Pub & Kitchen, Kizuki Ramen & Izakaya, Tengu Sushi, and Stanford’s Steakhouse – all within walking distance – and for a longer stroll, don’t miss it You Patty’s Eggnest every day until 2 p.m. for a hearty breakfast.

Come for the king salmon, stay at the Bluwater Bistro – Leschi for a COVID vaccine

In partnership with UW Medical Center, Bluwater Bistro – Leschi will host two COVID vaccine pop-ups on Wednesday October 6th and 27th. The pop-ups will offer both the first and second dose of the Pfizer vaccine, as well as a site assessment for booster shot eligibility. Hood Famous Cafe + Bar presents its own version of a classic Filipino bread

To kick off the Month of Filipino American History, the Hood Famous Bakeshop will be selling freshly made Pandesal, a popular Filipino bun, every morning at the Hood Famous Cafe + Bar in the International District. Served as a breakfast (and all-day) snack, pandesal is enjoyed alone or with fillings such as ube, cheese, matcha or strawberry. Hood Famous offers pandesal filled with longanisa, cream cheese and chive filling.

Mediterranean, Senegamian, and Mexican pop-ups come to Pike Place MarketFront Plaza

For the month of October, Pike Place Market will host three new grocery vendors in MarketFront Plaza: Zaytuna Mediterranean Catering (Saturdays and Sundays) serving falafel and kababs, Afella Jollof Catering (Saturdays) serving Senegamian cuisine such as Chicken and Fish Yassa, and Rojo’s Mexican Food (Saturdays) will continue offering its pop-up that started during the pandemic. The Pike Place Market is also launching the Artisan & Prepared Foods Program, its incubator program for small food businesses.

A la Mode Pies opens a new location and promises ice cream

With their flagship cafe Phinney Ridge, slated to close in 2023, A la Mode Pies seized the opportunity to open a third location on the former Parfait Ice Cream site in Ballard. The takeover of a former ice cream parlor has its advantages: The ten-year-old bakery acquired the pasteurizer from Parfait, with which A la Mode Pies will expand its ice cream line.
