To be expelled? You may receive free legal assistance. Around ten percent of tenants in Washington are in arrears with their rents, with black and Latin American households being disproportionately represented. Eviction moratoriums are due to end next month or 2022, depending on where you live; but starting today, low-income tenants are guaranteed free legal assistance. In King County, contact the King County Bar for assistance. Check with the tenants’ union elsewhere.

I hope no one intended to use this ocean. An oil pipeline burst off the coast of California this weekend, spilling hundreds of thousands of gallons of oil into a nearby wetland. Huntington Beach is now smeared with oil from the pipeline connected to an oil rig owned by Beta Offshore and Amplify Energy Corp Animals. It is a reminder that here in Washington we are fortunate enough not to have any oil or gas production facilities, and it should stay that way.

Huntington Beach Oil Spill! Booms are useless. Oil flows directly into the wetlands. pic.twitter.com/HjEhxUGedG

Seattle’s biggest festival of the year was the opening of a subway station. Are you among the tens of thousands who visited the new Northgate, Roosevelt and U District train stations this weekend? What a fabulous opening weekend – especially since it coincides with a food fair in the U District. In the next three years Sound Transit will open 25 (!) New stations. It seems like someone who is running for office might want to think about aligning themselves with such things.

Great excitement yesterday for the opening of new transit stations in North Seattle. It seems to me that the progressive candidates for the Seattle elections should spend the week highlighting their plans to expedite the delivery of more channels to the rest of the city

Happy Supreme Court Day! It’s the first working day of the Supreme Court’s tenure, or at least what’s left of it. You will hear cases involving the carrying of guns in public, access to government documents, the death penalty, and taxpayers’ funding of religious schools. Oh, and of course there’s an abortion-related case that could result in the Court tilting Roe against Wade, so it’s all terrible.

Americans must really love reading about gun deaths every day because we sure don’t do much to stop them. Police claim a 35-year-old man was shot dead near Pike Place Market around 9:30 p.m. last night. No further details, but homicide is investigating. This weekend, too, there were mass shootings in South Carolina, Colorado and Texas, with three dead and ten injured. Last week, Massachusetts successfully chased a gun manufacturer out of the state by passing a comprehensive gun safety law.

Russia worries about gay fur feminists. A Russian official has called a variety of groups “extremists”, including queer people, feminists, furries and the childless. Andrei Tsyganov, chairman of a child safety commission, said the country should give these groups an official name that would allow law enforcement to deal with them tougher. Earlier this year, a Russian MP called for queer people to be sterilized.

Get it, Jade. Community groups say that Kyrsten Sinema, the interim Senator from Arizona, will not meet with them, so they will meet with her even if she tries to escape them by hiding in a bathroom. Sinema is currently blocking an infrastructure bill that would tax rich businesses while collecting tons of money from them.

We wouldn’t have to confront @senatorsinema around Phx when she was meeting with the churches she voted for. She was completely inaccessible. We are tired of the political games, stop playing with our lives.

Revenge of the Octopus! A boat full of squid fishermen capsized near Colman Dock that weekend. Her boat’s engine apparently lost power, and then a wave from a ferry sank the boat. None of the humans suffered serious injuries, and now the squids have a new boat to play with.

It’s time to retake Montlake. Why is a neighborhood within walking distance of the light rail, a soon-to-be-opened bus hub and one of the best urban public parks in the Pacific Northwest reserved exclusively for millionaire homes?

There’s no reason Seattle shouldn’t follow the European models of filling near high-capacity transit. It could be Montlake. https://t.co/MHuiXWADXN pic.twitter.com/WY6SShrD7D

Some pretty gross allegations about Robin Thicke: Do you remember the video for “Blurred Lines”? One of the actresses, Emily Ratajkowski, writes in a new book that Robin Thicke groped her from behind, a report confirmed by director Diane Martel. Martel says she yelled at him and called for the shooting to end, but Ratajkowski said they could go on. After that, Thicke blocked her on Instagram.

Bad news about bad news: Over the past two decades, many news outlets have been forced to close due to the changing economic climate in the journalism industry. But others were festering disasters. Here’s a recap of how Ozy, a news site no one has ever heard of but raised tens of millions of dollars, completely imploded in a week. The most incredible detail relates to the company’s co-founder, who apparently used voice-changing technology to impersonate a YouTube executive on a conference call.

The CEO of AMC Theaters encourages his critics to choke on it. Reports of the cinema’s demise were premature: This morning, CEO Adam Aron announced that the cinema chain had made record-breaking profits this weekend with the new Venom Sexy Slime Boy movie and the new James Bond movie .

New press release from @AMCTheatres. With Venom & Bond we were able to set records for our busiest weekend in terms of sales since the outbreak of the pandemic in 2020. Around 3.9 million visited our cinemas worldwide. You know my thoughts on “wise men” predicting the demise of cinemas: Choke on it, baby, #CHOKEonTHAT pic.twitter.com/MuolpwCUYp

Has anyone seen the Hotel Transylvania 4? It should hit theaters on October 1st. Then they changed it to an Amazon streaming release. Now nobody seems to know what’s going on. (The website still says “October 1st exclusively in cinemas”). I’m not that excited to see this movie; I just think it’s weird that this film of all things seems cursed.

Hello! Sorry for the disappointment, Hotel Transylvania 4 was not released from the studio as planned today. As soon as it’s out we will broadcast it for you! Stay tuned. -Cherron

Will the film production be stopped because of a strike? The union, which represents tens of thousands of crew members, voted this weekend on whether to go on strike because of the harsh working conditions while negotiating with a group of film producers. Results are still expected today. A “yes” does not necessarily mean that a strike will take place, only that it has been approved.

Nothing can prepare you for the musical Princess Diana. You have certainly been generous with the cast of Charles. How nice that this came just in time for us to go wild Dear Evan Hansen:

Of all the Broadway shows, did you have to choose Diana to go pro ???
