TEGNA Inc. (NYSE: TGNA) today announced that Christy Moreno has been named President and General Manager of KING 5, NBC’s Seattle subsidiary, effective August 2, 2021. Moreno will also be responsible for monitoring station operations on all platforms as defining and ensuring the station’s organizational goals.

Moreno joins KING 5 from WHAS11, TEGNA’s ABC subsidiary in Louisville, Kentucky, where she served as President and General Manager since 2018 4 “and” The NightTeam, “increasing video views on WHAS11.com and YouTube. Prior to WHAS11, Moreno was news director at KUSA, the NBC subsidiary of TEGNA in Denver, where she oversaw the day-to-day operations of the newsroom and worked with marketing, sales and community relations. In 2017, the station won 12 regional Edward R. Murrow Awards, the most in its history.

Moreno previously served as News Director at WBIR, TEGNA’s NBC subsidiary in Knoxville, Tennessee, from 2012 to 2014. From 2007 to 2012 she was the assistant director of news at KENS, the CBS subsidiary of TEGNA in San Antonio, Texas. Prior to joining TEGNA, she was Executive Producer for KRIV and Associate Producer at KPRC, both based in Houston. Moreno graduated from the University of Oklahoma with a Bachelor of Arts. She is the former Region 8 Director for RTDNA and State Coordinator for Region 3. She currently serves on the board of directors for WHAS Crusade for Children, the Kentucky Region Red Cross, and the Kentucky Derby Festival.
