The “Comeback – Homeless Resources” app helps people at risk of or already affected by homelessness to find resources such as food, work and health care.
SEATTLE – Two innovative teenagers in Seattle created a mobile app to provide resources for what they call “the demographic shift in homelessness.”
Aatish Parson and Aidan Zhou are still in high school but are focused on helping the many who are in dire straits due to the coronavirus pandemic.
The teens created a free mobile app to help people from whatever situation they find themselves in. The app is appropriately named “Comeback – Homeless Resources” and has been rated and rated with five stars in the App Store.
Parson and Zhou spent the last year developing and updating the comeback app when they saw COVID-19 disrupt the lives of those previously housed and unhodged.
The app offers a location-based map that guides users to the nearest resources such as pantries, shelter or other services like rehab clinics, medical services, showers and even odd jobs for a quick income. Users can also make appointments directly in the app.
The app works in all 50 states, so whether you’re in Seattle or New York, the creators said you can download the app and find the nearest help without you possibly being embarrassed to ask for help.
The app currently has more than 3,500 downloads without much public attention and the creators have worked to expand the resource database as comprehensively as possible.
Crisis prevention, chat experts and more are available at the push of a button in the app. There is even a forum to communicate with other users who may be in a similar situation.
The app is available for iOS and Android, people should just search for “Comeback – Homeless Resources” and download it for free.
