TRAFFIC WARNINGS: SW Genesee is closed west of Delridge Way … work on the junction of Highland Park Way / West Marginal will continue into the early afternoon … to the north the 26th SW between Roxbury and Barton remains closed.
YMCA JOB FAIR: Do work that counts! Find a job with the YMCA West Seattle (36th & Snoqualmie). which is hosting a job fair today, 10 am-1pm, as presented here. (Hiring bonuses!)
HPIC’S HUGE GARAGE SALE: Second of the monthly megasales this summer – outside at Highland Park Improvement Club (12th and Holden), 10 am-3pm.
LEMONADE DISTRIBUTOR: 10 am-2pm, local girls raise money for a trip to Costa Rica, sell lemonade, iced coffee and goodies again, 42nd and Charlestown.
LAFAYETTE KINDERGARTEN GAME DATE; Arriving kindergarten teacher at Lafayette Elementary School? Join other families for a game date Hiawatha playground (2700 California SW) at 10 a.m.

FREE COMIC BOOK DAY: Yes, the new shop in West Seattle Tails to astonish participates: “We’re giving away free comics (maximum of 2 per person) as well as a 10% discount on all our old editions, toys and statues.” They are open from 11 am to 7 pm in 4850 California SW.
COMMUNITY CLEARANCE: 11 am-1pm, help clean up the West Seattle Bridge bike path! Information is available here.

ALKI BEACH PROUD: The first day of this weekend celebration begins with the car and motorcycle parade from Jack Block Park (2130 Hafen SW) at noon. Other events today include volleyball training, a vaccination clinic (noon-7:00 p.m. in the Alki Badehaus), two bar parties and the Rainbow City Band – The full updated list can be found here.
FOOTBALL FIELD DAY & FOOD DRIVE: 4-6pm, the annual Highline Premier FC Football field day and “fill in the goal” food drive Walt Hundley playing field (34th SW & SW Myrte) – even if you don’t take part in the field day fun, come by with food and / or money to donate!
TODAY FOR A LOCAL BAND: West Seattle’s own Aurora Avenue has the final in the ShoreLake Battle of the Bands, and you’re invited to Lake Forest Park tonight to cheer them on (“crowd enthusiasm” is a factor in the judging!).
