It’s not just the streets and drains, but also the sidewalks that should be kept clear of all the leaves that have brought wind and rain with them (have you tried using a sidewalk covered in slippery / slushy leaves?). If you have a garden waste collection service, now is the time to do so as you can drop off extra garden waste for free every collection day in November. From the memory of the city:

When you find that you have more leaves and garden waste than can fit in your grocery and garden trash cart, SPU is there for you! This November, SPU is offering household customers a FREE additional yard waste collection, up to 10 additional bags for each collection during the month. Simply put your extra garden waste next to your grocery and garden trash on your pick-up day.

Excess garden waste must be stored either in kraft paper bags or in an additional container that is clearly labeled to indicate that it contains additional yard waste. Please ensure that your additional garden waste collection bags or bins contain only garden waste and no food waste. Fallen branches and twigs can also be laid out for additional collection. These can be tied into bundles up to 4 feet long and 2 feet in diameter and tied with fiber yarn. Do not use wire, nylon cord, or plastic straps.
