In our report on this month’s Alki Town Council At one meeting, we noticed that a Seattle Parks manager mentioned a problem with “illegal grocery sellers” on the beach. Some readers wondered why Public Health in King County hadn’t done anything about it. Now, according to a message that we have just received, the agency has:
A public health food inspector found 5 food establishments operating in Alki Beach, Seattle without a valid food permit on Saturday, July 24, and was ordered to immediately stop serving food and beverages. These facilities include:
Botanas Locas closed on July 24, 2021 at 12:20 p.m.
Chopped N Skewed closed on July 24, 2021 at 1:55 p.m.
Marco Morales as of July 24, 2021 closed at 1:55 p.m.
Nieves De Garrafa closed on July 24th, 2021 at 2:10 p.m.
Ivonne Pineda’s stand will be closed on July 24, 2021 at 2:40 p.m.
These facilities are allowed to reopen once the person responsible for each business has completed the 3-step plan review process to obtain approval for mobile catering services (which also applies to food carts and stalls) according to the instructions online at kingcounty.gov/foodsafety/mobile
It was too late for follow-up questions this evening, but we will look into a few tomorrow.
