the White Center Food Bank, which also serves part of southwest Seattle, has a new director, although she is not new to the WCFB. Here is the announcement we received this morning:
The board of directors of the White Center Food Bank has announced Carmen Smith as the new managing director of the association.
Carmen joined us in February 2017 as a Community Outreach Manager, where she worked her way up through the organizational development and community engagement department before moving as Associate Executive Director and then Interim Executive Director over the past few months. Carmen comes to us with a solid background in food justice. From her experience working with international hunger relief organizations to nonprofit food justice organizations, she knows that relationships are the most important part of any organization. Carmen received her Masters in Public Administration from Maxwell School. As Executive Director, she brings this understanding to the fore to foster invaluable partnerships for the White Center Food Bank. The WCFB is in the midst of several projects including finding a new location, Carmen’s leadership in this important work has already proven invaluable.
“On behalf of the Board of Directors, we welcome Carmen in her new role as Executive Director. Your passion and dedication to the work at hand is evident and inspiring. ” Gabbi Gonzales, White Center Food Bank Chairman of the Board.
