SEATTLE (AP) – The bodies of a woman and a man were found after a fire in a Seattle homeless camp, firefighters said.

Crews responded around 3 a.m. on Monday in the Mount Baker neighborhood after receiving reports of smoke and flames in the camp, said Kristin Tinsley of the Seattle Fire Department on the department’s blog.

Firefighters saw 15-meter-high flames from a structure made of pallets and tarpaulin, which was completely on fire. The fire had also spread to surrounding bushes and trees.

Firefighters quickly put out the fire and then found a woman and man dead inside, she said.

The fire investigators have classified the cause of the fire as “undetermined” until the autopsy results are available.

Firefighters also searched other camps nearby to make sure no one was suffering from smoke inhalation.

Further information was not immediately published.
