Thank you very much.

Yonder Cider and Bale Breaking Brewing Co. recently announced the highly anticipated opening of their joint taproom in the heart of Seattle’s Ballard Distillery District, slated for Saturday September 4th, in a sprawling new location that will feature 32 taps of Washington-made beer and cider united under one roof.

“This taproom has been in the works for almost a year and we’re excited to finally be able to share our creations with everyone,” said Caitlin Braam, founder of Yonder Cider. “We believe that in addition to great drinks, we’ve created an interactive, exciting, and perfect place to experience what East Washington has to offer.”

“By sharing this taproom between our two brands, we can display almost the full range of beverages made in Washington state,” said Meghann Quinn, co-founder of Bale Breaker. “From beer and cider to hard seltzer and finally wine, craft drink lovers can experience and explore everything in one place!”

The new taproom presents the best apples and hops in the state and has more than 6,200 m² of outdoor space and a spacious common taproom. Rotating food trucks on site, fire pits, a dedicated sales room, murals by local artist Jennifer Ament and more are part of the extensive six-month renovation of the property. The two on-site buildings offer an exceptional range of year-round, seasonal, and special releases from both brands, and will also house small-batch production for Yonder and Bale Breaker. Future plans include outdoor movies, cider and beer education classes, collaborative publications, and much more.

This common taproom is also the first of its kind. As of now, cideries and breweries cannot share a tasting room alone in Washington State. However, thanks to a new bill passed in June 2020, distilleries can share their tasting rooms with wineries and breweries. To enable the shared tasting room, the founders of Yonder and Bale Breaker jointly founded a distillery called Wise Fool Spirits. The distillery will act as R&D for spirits made from products of the two brands. Yonder and Bale Breaker will also be releasing two collaborations as part of the grand opening: East Out West, a raspberry-pink-grapefruit kettle sour mixed with Porter’s Perfection apples, and a hopped version of Yonder’s popular blackberry cider, Palisades.

After opening, the opening hours of the Yonder and Bale Breaker Ballard taprooms are Tuesday through Thursday from 3pm to 9pm, Friday and Saturday from 12pm to 10am, and Sunday from 12pm to 9pm. The taproom is closed on Mondays. This new taproom – which is both dog and kid friendly – is in addition to Bale Breaker’s Yakima taproom and Yonder’s “Yonder Bar” retail space in Seattle.
