Maybe this chicken sandwich craze will end after all. It’s said that Momofuku’s celebrated chef David Chang, who introduced the mainstream diner to the pork belly bun, will launch his version of the chicken sandwich across Seattle starting at 5 p.m. Tuesday

The Fuku Chicken Sandwich is only delivered via a ghost kitchen. The sandwich will be delivered to customers in downtown and South Lake Union along with chicken fingers and waffle fries, before being delivered via third-party delivery apps like Uber Eats, DoorDash, Grubhub and Postmates in the coming weeks, according to Fuku management.

Fuku is pursuing a more cautious growth strategy in the Puget Sound area following the debacle of a launch in Houston in the spring, when demand was so great that many customers reportedly complained of late deliveries and in some cases did not get their chicken orders at all. Delivery drivers couldn’t keep up with all orders, Fuku management said.

For the start in Seattle, Fuku did not specify its delivery radius, only said that the rollout would be gradually expanded to the entire urban area of Seattle. His popular spicy chicken sandwich ($ 9.50) features a habanero pepper-salted breast topped with mayo and cucumber and served in a Martins potato roll.

The chicken sandwich was on the secret menu at Chang’s Momofuku Noodle Bar in New York City before branching off with its own sibling, Fuku, in the East Village. This chicken sandwich is now available through third-party apps in many metropolitan areas across the country.

Some Mariners fans got a sneak peek when Fuku served the sandwich at a concession stand in T-Mobile Park this spring. It was a silent introduction as poultry stocks were limited due to the pandemic.
