MAPLE VALLEY, Washington – A jogger was found dead on a street in Maple Valley Sunday morning.

Police believe the victim, later identified as 53-year-old Greg Moore, was hit by a driver who escaped from the scene. Officials said he was an avid runner and they believe he was hit after a 15-mile run.

Moore was found across from Shepherd of the Valley Lutheran Church at 23855 Southeast 216th Street.

His body was found after 10 a.m. but is said to have been at the scene for some time.

KIRO 7 spoke to Moore’s wife, Michelle Moore, who wants someone to get in touch so her family can be closed.

“And the person who did that, you made a mistake. And you may not be a bad person because what you did was wrong, ”she said. “I need to talk to this person. I have to yell at this person at least a little because we had plans. “

Michelle Moore said she and Greg would celebrate their 30th wedding anniversary in September, wait two months later for their first grandchild to be born, and plan a trip.

The King County Sheriff’s Office for Major Accident Response and Reconstruction Department investigated.

King County Sheriff’s Office Sgt. Tim Meyer says people can also help identify the driver.

“You can see some changes in behavior. The car they always drove is now covered by a tarpaulin. I cleared the garage, which was full of disorder, and stowed a vehicle in it, ”said Meyer.

Anyone with information is asked to call the King County Sheriff’s Office non-emergency number (206-296-3311) and reference case C21022337.
