Traveling with your family is a great experience – it allows you to spend time, get away from it all and introduce your children to unforgettable places and memories. When visiting a city, the question of family-friendly attractions can arise. From interactive museums to whale watching, there are 10 family-friendly activities in Seattle that are sure to entertain a wide variety of age groups.
1. Visit the Space Needle
No list that talks about Seattle attractions would be complete without the iconic Space Needle. Located in the Seattle Center, the Space Needle is both a memorable experience and a unique way to see the city below. In addition to a 360-degree viewing platform, visitors who feel brave can also see the unique rotating glass floor that was recently added. The Space Needle is currently working with face masks and limited capacity.

2. Explore the Seattle Aquarium
The Seattle Aquarium is a great way to get up close and personal with some of the diverse marine life in the area. Some of the animals in the aquarium include a variety of stunning fish as well as adorable sea otters! The Seattle Aquarium is currently powered by timed admission to allow for better social distancing.

3. Spend a day at the Woodland Park Zoo
The Woodland Park Zoo is another great option for animal lovers and is home to a wide variety of animals. Some of its residents are birds of prey, big cats, and reptiles of all sizes and shapes. Guests can also enjoy additional experiences such as meeting selected animals. Woodland Park Zoo is currently open, but face masks are required.

4. Explore the Pike Place Market
The Pike Place Market is another Seattle icon. Pike Place is home to historic sites like the first Starbucks, as well as unique attractions like the Gum Wall. The market itself also has dozens of shops selling everything from comics to fresh fish. Pike Place is currently operational, although some shops, restaurants, or attractions may be closed.

5. Explore the Seattle Center
The Seattle Center is primarily home to the Space Needle, but is also home to a variety of other family-friendly attractions. These attractions include Artists at Play, the center’s large playground. The Seattle Center is also home to several museums. However, some of the museums are currently closed or have limited capacity due to the pandemic. So be sure to check this out before making any plans.

6. Take a whale watching tour
If you are looking for a unique adventure in the Pacific Northwest, take a whale watching tour. The ocean on the Seattle border is home to a wide variety of wildlife, including humpback whales, orcas, and sea lions. A whale watching tour is a great way to see some of these majestic animals in their natural habitat.

7. Enjoy Lake Sammamish
Lake Sammamish State Park is not far outside of the city of Seattle and is a great option for families. The park offers a variety of water sports including swimming, boating, and kayaking. Additionally, young children will enjoy the park’s playground, and multiple picnic tables make it a great place for a picnic too.

8. Explore the Seattle subway
If you’re looking for a historic or spooky Seattle experience, consider a tour of the Seattle subway. Today’s Seattle city was actually built on many of the older buildings and streets, and the areas of this lower level are still open to the public by tours. Paranormal tours are also offered for those who want to be a bit scared.

9. Relax in Golden Gardens Park
Golden Gardens Park is located on beautiful Puget Sound. With hiking trails, a playground, a beach, and boating, Golden Gardens Park has something for all family members.

10. Ride the Seattle Great Wheel
Located on Puget Sound, the Seattle Great Wheel is another way to see the city from a unique perspective – from a giant Ferris wheel. The Great Wheel not only offers rides, but also breathtaking light shows.
