Two of the Carnival Corporation & plc brands, Princess Cruises and Holland America Line, celebrated their restarting operations in the United States today with a ceremony in the Port of Seattle.
In attendance were Jan Swartz, President of Princess Cruises, and Gus Antorcha, President of Holland America Line, to express the profoundly positive impact the resumption of cruises will have on Seattle, Alaska and their communities.

Holland America Line kicks off its Alaska season when the Nieuw Amsterdam sets sail from Seattle tomorrow, July 24th. Princess Cruises’ Majestic Princess will also embark on her first Alaska voyage of the season the following day, July 25th.
Each of these respective restarts marks the airline’s return following the COVID-19 triggered global shutdown in March 2020, as well as their return to Alaska. Each line will now operate ten trips north from Seattle through September.
Princess Cruises and Holland America Line have both operated from the Port of Seattle for over two decades, and together the two airlines have more than 125 years of experience sailing cruises in The Great Land. Historically, every second guest takes an Alaska cruise with Princess or Holland America.
Princess has brought more guests to The Great Land than any other cruise line in over 50 years of Alaska sailing, while Holland America was the first cruise line to offer passenger travel to the Yukon and Alaska nearly 75 years ago.
For an entire season, each ship visit typically contributes directly over $ 364,000 to the local economy through provisioning (e.g., fuel, groceries, flowers, supplies, and maintenance), port taxes, and visitor expenses.
