In Seattle, civil engineering firm Magnusson Klemencic Associates promoted Mike Judenbury and Sean Clifton to executive director and Russell Larsen to director. Judenbury is the Design Leader of the MKA Healthcare Specialist Group. Its portfolio includes stand-alone hospitals, new patient towers on existing campuses, and seismic retrofits in fully occupied Level 2 trauma centers and other key facilities. He was hired in 2000 and his projects included University of Washington Medicine Lake Union Phases 2, 3.1, and 3.2, in Seattle; Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center Hospital in Columbus and BC Children’s Hospital TECK Acute Care Center in Vancouver, BC. Clifton’s work encompasses residential towers and large, mixed-use developments that incorporate multiple building typologies and building materials. He was hired in 2008 and his projects include the JW Marriott Charlotte Hotel in Charlotte, NC; Headquarters of the Bank of Philippine Islands in Makati, Metro Manila, Philippines, and the Marriott Marquis at McCormick Place in Chicago. Larsen has designed office and residential projects in the USA, often in regions with high earthquake loads. As a member of the task force of the Applied Technology Council 58 project, he helps develop guidelines for seismic performance assessment of buildings and performance-based seismic design. As an MKA employee since 2003, he has, among other things, the Salesforce Tower in San Francisco; River Point Tower in Chicago; and SkyRise Miami in Miami.
