Some Seattle Airbnbs absolutely booked for summer season, trade specialists level to once-in-a-century journey growth

Some industry experts point to a travel boom that only happens once a century

The most popular summer 2021 trip booked on Airbnb is a family leaving a big city for a smaller destination.

SEATTLE – According to some industry experts, we are heading for a travel boom that only happens once a century.

On site, Amy Diep said her Airbnb entry in Seattle was almost fully booked for the summer.

It’s a three-bedroom, two-and-a-half-bath that can accommodate up to six guests.

“It was definitely a huge shift from 2020 to 2021,” said Diep. “When I started in December, my rates were extremely low. In May, June and July we are almost completely booked at the highest rates we have had since we started the business.”

“You can be a lot more private. You have a lot more space. You get a full kitchen, a full bathroom, you can live in a whole house, but then you have to pay to run an Airbnb, ”said Diep.

Recently, Airbnb was scrutinized by guests for high fees.

“We can control our nightly rate plus the cleaning fee,” said Diep, who said it was a challenge but eventually they found a quality cleaning service. “We really liked her job and she did a great job and we pay her more than what we ask as a cleaning fee.”

The company itself sets service fees and usage taxes that may be levied by a city, county, state, or country.

Daniel Hall and his family are on a two-week road trip from Seattle back to Nashville. His family runs a mix of hotels and Airbnbs, and said they look forward to an Airbnb in Montana that gives them access to an entire home with multiple bedrooms, a full kitchen, and a washer and dryer.

“We booked a couple of Airbnbs along the way for convenience and convenience,” Hall said. “When you find the right place, it’s more about the experience than the fees. You’ll book it.”

An Airbnb team is now aiming for a full review of fees and recommendations by December 15th.
